The Dancing Pen: Introduction to Copperplate Calligraphy
Come learn the beautiful art of Copperplate Calligraphy, which was developed in 16th century England. Copperplate is an elegant pointed pen script with contrasting shaded and hairline strokes. Students will learn how to use an oblique pen holder and pointed pen nib and work with sumi ink. We will study every stroke of each letter, digit, and punctuation mark. All materials are provided.
Laura Di Piazza, MFA teaches calligraphy workshops at Dartmouth College and Society of Scribes NYC. Laura has provided calligraphy work for numerous special events and custom lettering design for reproduction. Her clients include HBO, Whitney Museum of American Art, Louis Vuitton and Cartier. She also creates abstract art and has exhibited in the USA, Canada and Europe.
